6 Tips When Making An Online Course

Published 30th May 2019

Online courses are huge nowadays. Hundreds of billions are made in the e-learning market. This is because there is always a skill that people want to learn.

Online courses are great having on the side of your primary business as well. You will show how experienced you are in a particular subject, making them trust your business even more. It’s always great to widen your passive income points while having the two businesses complement each other at the same time.

In many cases, you can make more money teaching your skill than using your skill. Here at Krepling, we will show you everything you need to know when creating an online course, the right way.

1. Love The Course Topic That You Are Teaching

If you love what you are teaching people, you will automatically be a lot more secure with the words you use, thus making your lessons a lot more genuine and down to Earth while enjoying yourself.

When you truly love the topic of your course, you will naturally want to enlighten the world with why you love it without even noticing it. This will make your course a lot more engaging to everyone.

Once you start loving what you are teaching, your audience will pick up on it straight away and like the course a lot more. This is because they will feel passionate about the topic themselves once they see how in depth one topic can go.

2. Pick a Very Concentrated Subject

You never want to have a broad course topic as nobody wants to enter an all-rounder course where they learn nothing new. Make sure that your course tackles every small crevice of the topic that is being taught.

People are looking for specific skills out there to advance in, so pick something in particular and focus on making that the most in-depth learning experience for your customers.

3. Know Your Target Audience Very Well

Since you are teaching people a very concentrated skill, you will be targeting a very concentrated audience. If you don’t understand your target audience well then it’s better to choose another subject.

This whole market is based around helping people in a specific topic that you are experienced in. If you don’t know what type of problems your customers can run into when applying their skills in the real world, it would be impossible to sell the solution.

This is why you see so many courses on people who describe their personal experiences in the subject. You can always tell a fake story from a real story.

A person with real experiences will talk with conviction as they would be certain on the subject that they are teaching. A person who makes up false experiences for money would be very easy to see through. This is because they would only speak in broad optimistic terms without actually teaching real-life lessons.

People who fake their experience in online courses will never succeed as they would contradict themselves all the time. When they aren’t an expert in the subject themselves, they won’t know how to teach it properly, so you must always keep it as genuine as possible.

If you know what you are talking about and you know your target audience well, you don’t have to worry about this. It’s really easy to keep consistent and certain with your beliefs and ideals when you be yourself, making the learning experience 10 times better for your customers.

4. Have Your Online Course 90% Visual

Humans are naturally better listeners than readers. Nowadays, most people watch short videos to learn something rather than reading mile long paragraphs on the same thing.

You can also explain examples so much easier using video representations. A lot of people would use a whiteboard in their videos as well so that they can achieve both the descriptive wording of things along with the human aspect of speech and hand gestures.

Just make sure that you are always confident and sure with what you are saying as if you don’t speak with certainty, your audience will catch on to it and have doubts on whether you believe in what you are saying or not. Amplify your certainty if you have to.

Visual content is a lot more understandable to everyone. Videos are the future of education if not the now, especially with the growing popularity of YouTube over the years. It would be impossible to have a successful course without some sort of video explanations.

5. Always Show Real Life Examples

People will start your course to learn practical skills that they are going to use in the real world. That’s why real world examples are vital to connect with your target audience.

That’s also why you must have lots of experience in a certain topic before revolving a course around it as you would have more examples and life lessons to offer when you have been applying the same skills that you are teaching for a long time.

You can even use the loss aversion technique by mentioning mistakes that you have made in the past while giving them your solution to it. This makes you seem humble as well which will, in turn, advertises yourself even more. This leads us into the final tip.

6. Advertise Yourself Well

In the online course market, your main advertisement is yourself. At the end of the day you are selling your overall knowledge and skills on a specific topic, so they need to trust you. If people see your social media profile as a poor person who dresses sloppily, no matter how good your lessons are, they will never sign up for your online course.

This doesn’t mean that you have to create a false persona. All you have to do is be a more amplified version of yourself. Be confident and certain and people will feel more secure listening to what you have to say.

Show your amazing lifestyle on social media and be comfortable with yourself. The more comfortable you are with yourself, the more comfortable you will be with your ideas. Complement yourself now and then and make your face a selling point to your online course.

Now that you understand the fundamentals of making a successful online course, that all those successful entrepreneurs are using, you will be enlightening the people of the world while making a fortune out of it.
